WEN (Chinese) - nature, natural patterns, perception of aesthetic patterns, constellations, animal tracks, weather patterns, poetry

SCHEDULE, DESCRIPTIONS, COSTS, PROTOCOL

WEN Yoga classes include a brief talk, centering practices, and vinyasa (yoga flow)-based teachings for any level of practitioner. At some level, we are all beginners. Our teachings are precise for physical alignment and energetic efficiency, but in the Krishnamacarya-Desikachar-Scaravelli spirit are also customized to address individual needs. Each class centers upon how a facet of the human mind's interactions with the external world on any given day can be integrated into a full way of living yoga.

SCHEDULE

WEN Barn has closed early.

Lightning hit our farmhouse and rendered us without water and electricity. We will be out of home for a year. Please stay posted for our grand re-opening in Spring 2009 - and sign up for WEN Leaf, our e-newsletter with WEN insight, Green Yoga tips, and announcements.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS & COSTS

WEN YOGA BASICS - Open to anyone, this class shows you how to align your body properly for safety and with the five elements. A core focus on gravity and anti-gravity. Heidi offers careful instruction for safe challenges. You should come away from each class not only feeling good but having learned something.

WEN MIXED-LEVEL YOGA - This smooth flow class offers clear instruction to deepen your practice, heighten awareness, shift physical energy and health, and enhance breathing. Some previous practice suggested.

ADVANCED FLOW YOGA - This dynamic flow class draws you into creative sequencing and integrates more sophisticated tools for heightened awareness, enhanced senses, and mental-physical health.  Music from Indian ragas to Bach to Beth Orton to silence accompanies some classes.  Some previous practice required.

COMMUNITY YOGA - We want everyone to benefit from Yoga. Community Yoga is our way of opening the barn doors to anyone. In this mixed-level class, the teacher will respond to who is present. Suggested donation: $5, two dozen eggs, or a basket of fresh fruit. You get the idea.

YOGA AS MUSE - Jeff offers his unique YOGA AS MUSE teachings in the format of ongoing classes.  Open to anyone, discover how yoga’s myriad tools deepen your natural creativity.  Each class may include a thematic focus, specific yogic tools, outdoor experience, and your chosen medium of writing, sketching, and/or photography.  Bring your own creative tools. Learn more about Jeff's YOGA AS MUSE teachings here and at CENTERTOPAGE.COM. 1st & 3rd Fridays Only Starting in June.

IN-OUT YOGA & MEDITATION - Jeff anchors each class in studying the human mind's patterns. A flow of Yoga, meditation, and outdoor experience woven with brain science studies, nature studies, & wonder. In some classes, you might leave the barn to wander the paths, sit on the blue stone pavilion, or gather at the Evergreen Circle. So be prepared for the unexpected. Two hours. Mixed-to-advanced. After most classes, Jeff will invite you to gather for tea and conversation on a topic related to living locally - food, relationship, environment, economy.

CLASS PROTOCOL

Please be on time.

Out of respect for all practitioners, classes begin promptly and end promptly as scheduled.  For your first class at WEN Barn and Gardens, we encourage you to be familiar with the directions here to assure an early arrival at least fifteen minutes before class begins.  This early arrival will allow you sufficient time to register, find a spot, and to settle.

Park & carpool.

You may park in the indicated spots in front of the barn or along the side of the house side of the road. To save energy, carpool with someone.  Students from two or more households who carpool together to five classes will receive a 50% discount off their sixth class.  The same offer applies to those students who bicycle and walk to class.

Relax & wander.
For the half hour following class, we encourage you to relax near our one-acre pond, to stroll to the spillway waterfall where the stream ribbons into the woods, or to wander to our back meadows where we're constructing future WEN Teaching Gardens. Doing so can help you integrate your practice in deep connection with the natural world.
